About this test
About this test
Your thyroid hormones are involved in many bodily functions, so when these hormones are imbalanced, you may experience symptoms. These symptoms change based on whether your thyroid hormone levels are too high or too low.
Hypothyroidism (also known as an underactive thyroid) occurs when the thyroid does not produce enough thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3).
Symptoms of an underactive thyroid can include:
Tiredness
Being sensitive to cold
Weight gain
Constipation
Depression
Dry and scaly skin
Brittle hair and nails
Irregular periods or heavy periods
Slow heart rate
Hyperthyroidism (known as an overactive thyroid) is when the thyroid gland produces too much thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Symptoms of an overactive thyroid can include:
Nervousness, anxiety and irritability
Persistent tiredness and weakness
Sensitivity to heat
Swelling in your neck from an enlarged thyroid gland (goiter)
An irregular and/or unusually fast heart rate (palpitations)
Weight loss
Please talk to your healthcare provider about any concerns or symptoms. This is especially important if you experience any severe or sudden symptoms.
Your sample must be collected in the morning, on a Monday-Friday, and returned on the same day.
Hormones are chemicals in your body that coordinate different functions by carrying messages through your blood to your organs, muscles and other tissues.
Your thyroid gland is a small gland in your neck that releases hormones into your body. A thyroid disorder, also known as thyroid disease, means that your thyroid doesn't create the right amount of hormones. Measuring your thyroid hormone levels can help you understand if your thyroid is working properly.
Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), or thyrotropin, is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland in the brain. TSH tells the thyroid gland to produce your thyroid hormones. These are called FT3 and FT4 or T3 and T4.
Free Thyroxine (FT4)
FT4 (also known as T4) is another type of thyroid hormone. After being released by your thyroid, it is converted into FT3 by cells in your body. Therefore, it also impacts your metabolism.
Free Triiodothyronine (FT3)
FT3 (also known as T3) is one of the two thyroid hormones. FT3 helps control your metabolism, which is when your body breaks down food into energy
Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TGAB)
TGAB is an antibody which can indicate thyroid damage caused by an autoimmune disorder.
Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPO/TPEX)
TPEX is an antibody which can indicate thyroid damage caused by an autoimmune disorder.

Super easy, got my results the day the lab received the sample. I knew something wasn't right w/my thyroid & now I don't have to beg a dr to take the labs b/c I already have them.
Very fast delivery, easy to use and the response came back quickly. I share with my physician to help improve my thyroid prescription. Will definitely order again in the future.
